Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. The first three are the basic subtractive colour dyes formed in most colour emulsions and printers’ inks. Pure black is unobtainable by combining CMY inks, so is generally added as a fourth colour in printing to improve image body and contrast. See also: RGB.
