In mass digitisation, batch sampling is a means of quality assurance whereby a numerically significant subset of a larger body of digital information is taken as being
qualitatively representative of the whole. Where the subset is taken as being of acceptable standard (in terms of text legibility, OCR accuracy, etc.), the entire batch will be passed; where the subset is taken as being unacceptable, the entire batch will be rejected.
