OCR/NER workshop at the DH Summer School (Leuven, 8 September)
In the course of 2014, colleagues from various divisions of the University Library of KU Leuven (Belgium) were involved in testing tools for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and NER (Named Entity Recognition), developed in the framework of the Support action Centre for Competence in Digitisation (Succeed).

Take-up of tools within the Succeed project: Implementation of the INL Lexicon Service in Delpher.nl
Delpher is a joint initiative of the Meertens Institute of Research and documentation of Dutch language and culture, the university libraries of Amsterdam (UvA), Groningen, Leiden and Utrecht, and the National Library of the Netherlands, to bring together the otherwise fragmented access to digitized historical text corpora.
3- 2nd edition Succeed Awards
The 2nd edition of the Succeed Awards recognised the successful evaluation and take-up of text digitisation tools implemented by the external libraries collaborating with the Succeed project. The awards were delivered during the Succeed Final Conference, that took place in the Bibliotèque national de France, in Paris, last 28th of November.

On November 28th, 2014, the Succeed project presented their results in its final conference “Succeed in digitisation. Spreading excellence”. This event took place in the Bibliothèque national de France, in Paris, and gathered near 70 experts in the field of digitisation and cultural heritage.

Succeed Interoperability workshop report (2)
On 2 October 2014, the Succeed project organised a technical workshop on the interoperability of digitization platforms at the National library of the Netherlands in The Hague. 19 researchers, librarians, and computer scientists from several European countries participated in the workshop. The afternoon programme of the workshop further included a number of interactive sessions.
