“The missions of modern Argonauts are to digitize, preserve and disseminate”, said Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel Prize winner and president of the Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library Foundation, during Digitisation Days, which took place last 20th of May at the Spanish National Library in Madrid.
Vargas Llosa stated that the principal objective of Digitisation Days is to create the tools needed to make culture from everyone and for everyone”. He added that he was pleased by the fact that science and technology walk hand in hand, thanks to the talent and effort of many participants at this conference, since “they are at the service of History, Literature, Poetry and Art, and are making commendable efforts to recover immense wealth, immeasurable treasures that often lie hidden on library shelves and in archives, waiting for a bold explorer to come across them and rescue them for the world.
