Sven Schlarb from the Austrian National Library talked about the challenges of integrating the 22 software tools developed within IMPACT, and how they were met in the IMPACT Interoperability Framework (IIF), a workflow design and management platform.

Mark-Oliver Fischer from the Bavarian State Library presented the so-called “strategic tools”, paper-bound and electronic resources designed to disseminate knowledge of digitisation and full text.
Vorstellung des Projekts IMPACT
Hildelies Balk – Pennington de Jongh from the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the National Library of the Netherlands, and project leader of the IMPACT project, opened the day by introducing the project, its aims and goals, and giving an outlook on the Centre of Competence, which will sustain the project’s developments into the future.

Introducing the IMPACT Centre of Competence
At the IMPACT Demo Day of 12 July 2011 at The British Library, Aly Conteh outlined the set up of the IMPACT Centre of Competence (CoC) for Digitisation. This CoC is about sharing best practice and tools – it will become a one-stop shop for anybody involved in the digitisation of historic text.

IMPACT & MyGrid will run a free hackathon on the use of Taverna workflows in IMPACT and cultural heritage digitisation. This workshop will be on the 14-15th November 2011 and held in Manchester, UK.
